Welcome back gamers. Hot off the press of EA's Showcase comes more information regarding the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic. It appears that that the event allowed players a chance to play a new demo class, the Bounty Hunter. While that might seem innocuous under most circumstances, the surprise was  the race of that particular Bounty Hunter which was.... wait for iiiiiit... Rattataki (the species of Ventress).

The Rattataki are a species of human-like beings with "chalk-white skin and bald heads, similar to the Umbaran race." They are a violent race, being mostly isolated from outside contact, and engaging in violent gladitorial combat. Here is what Wookieepedia has to say about them:

"For eons, the Rattataki have been constantly battling themselves and their fellow inhabitants. Isolated from the outside galaxy, the Rattataki quickly created new ways to kill each other.

A couple of warlords had gathered an army in the south, but they were killed so they could never be a threat. Only their daughter, Asajj Ventress, escaped.

Rattataki soon learned of life outside their world, when a Jedi Knight, Ky Narec, crash-landed. Though they gained knowledge of the Galactic Republic, they tried to kill him on sight. The Jedi soon found young Ventress, discovering her incredible potential to the Force. Together, they united armies and brought peace to the planet. But some warlords and generals feared them and declared a truce to kill them. They only killed Narec, enraging Ventress. In her rage, she captured and/or killed the ones responsible for her master's death."

The other bit of useful information come out in the shape of Darth Maul and Darth Vader. After starting as a Sith Warrior, you end up specializing into one of these two Advanced Classes: The Sith Juggernaut or the Sith Marauder. In gameplay terms, that's a tank or dps. The game is starting to feel more familiar already.

The tree system for the game has also been leaked out in the form of an "example" Advanced Class chart for the Sith Warrior archetype. There isn't a whole lot to look at right now, but the layout is interesting. After choosing either the Marauder or Juggernaut spec, you have 2 more trees to choose between. It looks like there will be a ton of options to choose from, but things are very likely to change with beta feedback, so take the chart with a grain of salt.

Overall, it's a nice chunk of information to digest, but we'll keep hoping to glean more information out of the press event than what's been outed so far. We'll keep adding more information as it leaks out, so stay tuned.
