The Star Wars Galaxy is formed by the gravitational collapse of a large cloud of dust and gas. The galaxy nearly 10,000 light years in diameter consists of over one million inhabited worlds and thousands of intelligent species.

The Sith Race begins to develop their own culture and civilization on Korriban. In time, the term "Sith" become associated with the teachings and philosophies rather than being associated with the species. Note: This is not to be confused with the "Sith" that Dark Jedi take on in their name.

Galactic City, which later becomes Republic City/Imperial, covers all of the land on Coruscant.

Hyperspace travel becomes widespread, allowing for galactic expansion and exploration. The Republic is formed and the Jedi Order assembles.
Exploration of the greater galaxy begins along the Corellian Run and Perlemian Trade Route. The Duros colonize the planet Neimoidia.
The First Great Schism between followers of the dark side and the light side occurs. After more than a century, the dark-siders are driven off into the wide galaxy.
Human colonists first arrive on Alderaan

The Galactic Republic is formed. Its capital is the planet Coruscant. Founding members include Coruscant, Alderaan, Corellia, and Chandrila.
Jedi Knights come into being.

The First Great Schism between the followers of the dark and light sides of the Force occurs. A rogue Jedi named Xendor sparks the conflict after turning to the Dark Side and gaining many followers. Calling themselves the Legions of Lettow, they form a massive space fleet and declare war on the Jedi.

After a lengthy war, the Legions of Lettow are defeated, ending the first Great Schism.

War breaks out between the Republic and the Tion Cluster. The Republic claims victory after forcing the Hutts into the conflict against the Tion.

The first of the Alsakan Conflicts erupts. The rebellious leaders of Alsakan will continue to fight the Republic in seventeen separate conflicts over the next several thousand years.

A republic outpost is established on Malastare. Gran colonists begin to follow but won't settle in earnest for several millenia.
circa 7,003 B.B.Y.
The Second Great Schism, known as the Hundred Years Darkness begins when a group of Dark Jedi use twisted science and technology to create an army of monstrous creatures and start a war with the Republic.

The Jedi Knights lead the Republic through the Hundred-Year Darkness.
circa 6,900 B.B.Y.
The Hundred Years Darkness ends after the Dark Jedi make a final stand on Corbos and are all but wiped out. The survivors flee into the era's uncharted regions of space. Many will come to settle on Korriban, where they will subjugate the native intelligent species, the Sith. They will come to be known as the Dark Lords of the Sith.

Tapani sector merchants establish the first leg of what will later become the Rimma Trade Route.
circa 5,000 B.B.Y.
The Unification Wars. Empress Teta unifies the seven worlds of the Koros system.
Great Hyperspace War. The Republic successfully fends of an attack by Naga Shadow's Sith invaders, led to the civilized galaxy by Gav and Jori Daragon.
circa 4,700 B.B.Y.
The Jedi discover a Sith holocron.

circa 4,250 B.B.Y.
The Vultar Cataclysm. The Jedi weather another schism between dark and light forces.
circa 3,996 B.B.Y.
The Sith War erupts, led by Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma. The Jedi defeat the Sith but suffer great losses, and the Jedi Planet Ossus is devastated. The Republic also vanquishes the Warlord Mandalore during the conflict.
circa 3,964 B.B.Y.
The Mandalorian Wars begin. Mandalorians begin attacking Republic Sectors. The Jedi decide not to get involved, leaving the war to be fought by the Republic military.
Knights of the Old Republic
circa 3,960 B.B.Y.
Under the leadership of Revan and Malak, the Republic defeats the Mandalorians, who surrender unconditionally. Revan and Malak then take their fleet into deep space to supposedly stop a number of remaining rogue Mandalorians. They are not heard from for months, during which they completely turn to the dark side of the Force and use the ancient Star Forge to create a fleet of warships.

Naboo is settled by colonists from Grizmallt.
circa 3,000 B.B.Y.
The Hydian Way hyperspace route is blazed, opening the galaxy to much wider colonization. The Tapani sector trade lanes are connected with Bith route known as the Monedes'mai Hypercanal, forming the modern Rimma Trade Route.
circa 2,000 B.B.Y.
A rogue Jedi Knight called Darth Ruin falls to the dark side and founds a new Sith Order, a cult of the Dark Side of the Force.

Following an internal purge, the last surviving Sith are annihilated at Ruusan.
Darth Bane, the single Sith survivor of the battle at Ruusan reinvents the Sith order. The Jedi Knights believe the Sith are destroyed, but this new order secretly survives for the next millenium.

The Battle of Naboo. The Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo is thwarted by the Jedi and Queen Padmé Amidala. Naboo Senator Palpatine becomes Supreme Chancellor of the Republic.
Qui-Gon Jinn is killed by Darth Maul. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes Anakin Skywalker as his Padawan.
Count Dooku leaves the Jedi Order and Jango Fett is selected as the template for a clone army on Kamino.

The Outbound Flight project is launched to search for life in other galaxies.

Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi attempt to secure living starships from the planet Zonama Sekot.

The Battle of Geonosis. Jango Fett is killed by Mace Windu. Chancellor Palpatine is granted emergency war powers and the Clone Wars begin.

Palpatine declares himself Emperor, and Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. Imperial rule descends upon the galaxy.

After Academy graduation and an eight-month stint as an Imperial Officer, Han Solo is drummed out of the service when he saves a Wookie slave named Chewbacca.

The Battle of Yavin. The first death star is destroyed thanks to the efforts of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa.

The Rebel Alliance evacuates Yavin 4 and searches for a new base. Kyle Katarn leads the mission to destroy he Empire's dark troopers.

The Alliance is routed at the Battle of Hoth, but Yoda trains Luke Skywalker as a Jedi. Boba Fett captures Han Solo at Bespin.

Prince Xizor, leader of Black Sun, plots to kill Luke Skywalker but is outmaneuvered by Darth Vader.

The Battle of Endor. The Second Death star is destroyed by Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antilles. Mon Mothma proclaims the birth of a New Republic.

The Truce of Bakura. Imperial and Alliance forces make a temporary pact and join forces to drive off the Ssiruuk.

A coalition of Grand Moffs and Prophets of the Dark Side tries to usurp Ysanne Isard's position as head of the remaining Empire.
Jerec tries to unlock the power of Ruusan's Valley of the Jedi but is defeated by Kyle Katarn.

Wedge Antilles and the New Republic's Rogue Squadron help capture Coruscant and liberate Thyferra in the Bacta War.
Garik "Face" Loran and other members of warith Squadron battle Warlord Zsinj.

Leia Organa and Han Solo are married following an adventure on Dathomir.

Grand Admiral Thrawn declares war against New Republic. Leia and Han Solo's twins, Jachen and Jaina, are born.
Ysanne Isard returns and tries to steal the Super Star Destroyer Lusankaya.
circa 10-11 A.B.Y.
Emperor Palpatine returns in the body of a clone and his forces drive the New Republic from Coruscant. Leia and Han Solo's third child, Anakin, is born in exile. After Palpatine's final defeat, former Royal Guardsman Kir Kanos assassiantes all members of the Imperial Interim Ruling Council.
circa 11 A.B.Y.
Luke Skywalker founds the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. Imperial Admiral Daala makes terror strikes against the New Republic. Leia takes over from Mon Mothma as Chief of State of the New Republic.
circa 12-13 A.B.Y.
Admiral Daala and other enemies threaten the stability of the New Republic. General Madine is killed by Durga the Hutt.
circa 14 A.B.Y.
Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo are kidnapped by the Empire Reborn movement.
circa 16-17 A.B.Y.
Nil Spaar attacks neighboring star systems with his captured Black Fleet warships. Leia Organa Solo declares war on Spaar's Yevetha and hammers out a victory.
circa 17 A.B.Y.
Kueller and Brakiss, two ex-students from Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, mastermind a plot to overthrow the new Republic during the Almanian "New Rebellion".
circa 18 A.B.Y.
Thrackan Sal-Solo emerges as the head of the Human League on Corellia and tries to usurp the Corellian insurrection for his own purposes. He is defeated by his cousin Han Solo and Gaeriel Captison's Bakuran Navy.
Leia Organa Solo takes a leave of absence as Chief of State.
circa 19 A.B.Y.
New Republic signs a peace treaty with the Imperial Remnant.
Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade are married.
circa 21 A.B.Y.
Leia Organa Solo is again elected Chief of State.
circa 22 A.B.Y.
Anakin Solo attends the Jedi academy and meets fellow student Tahiri Veila.
circa 23-24 A.B.Y.
Jacen and Jaina Solo train at the Jedi academy and foil Brakiss's second Imperium, among other threats.
Borsk Fey'lya becomes Chief of State after Leia Organa Solo steps down.
circa 25 A.B.Y.
The Yuuzhan Vong enter the galaxy. Chewbacca is killed on Sernpidal. Yuuzhan Vong forces capture or poison key worlds such as Ithor, Obroa-skai and Tynna. A miscalculation at Fondor decimates Prince Isolder's Hapan navy.
circa 26 A.B.Y.
The Battle of Duro. Warmaster Tsavong Lah call for the heads of the jedi. The Jedi Academy is evacuated and the great temple is destroyed. Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade's first child, Ben is born.
circa 27 A.B.Y.
The Fall of Coruscant. The Yuuzhan Vong capture the seat of the New Republic government, and Borsk Fey'lya is killed. Anakin Solo is killed.
